According to local lore, the revered laterite Buddha image named Luang Pho Kraithong, originally enshrined in the image hall was disassembled and reassembled at Wat Ban Phran to serve as the principal Buddha image. However, as the founders sought to establish their own principal Buddha image, they constructed a shrine to enshrine Luang Pho Kraithong, referred to by villagers as Luang Pho Kraithong, with “Krai” representing the robe, and shoulder clothes of Luang Pho Kraithong.
