Three pristine islands off the coast of Bang Saphan Noi offer some of Thailand’s most accessible coral reef snorkeling without the crowds found at more famous destinations. The largest island, Ko Thalu, features a distinctive rock arch that gives it its name, while the smaller Ko Sang and Ko Sing provide intimate coves perfect for swimming and underwater exploration.

Snorkeling around these islands reveals healthy coral reefs teeming with tropical fish, including parrotfish, angelfish, and schools of yellow snappers darting between staghorn and table corals. Longtail boats from Bang Saphan Noi pier provide the most common transport, with trips taking 20-30 minutes depending on sea conditions. Visit between November and April for the calmest waters and best visibility for snorkeling. Bring reef-safe sunscreen, snorkeling gear if you have it, and plenty of water, as facilities on the smaller islands are limited. Day trips work well, though basic bungalow accommodation is available on Ko Thalu for those wanting to experience the islands’ serene evenings and early morning calm.
