Namtok Than Sadet National Park, Koh Phangan

Namtok Than Sadet National Park, located in southern Thailand, was established on 22 November 2018 and has an area of over 65 square kilometers. Than Saet literally means “royal river”. The name was associated with the royal visit of King Rama V in the year 1888. You may even see the King’s initials carved into a commemorative rock near the estuary of the river. Since then, several other Thai monarchs have visited the place.

The place is surrounded by lush forests where you can find different types of plants like the orchids Tiger Orchid and Belamcanda Chinesis, which are known to have the largest stems in the world. You will also find a 2.5-kilometer river that creates several waterfalls and natural rock pools where you can relax and enjoy the refreshingly cool water. ATV rides, and zip lines are some of the available activities for the adventurous traveler.

After having fun at the waterfalls, you may proceed to the beautiful small beach where you can continue swimming or rest. There are guesthouses at the beach as well as bars and restaurants that serve local cuisine.
