Wat Phu Khao Noi, also known as the “temple of the small mountain” is the oldest temple on the island of Koh Phangan. It has a ten-meter-high main pagoda which is surrounded by eight pagodas that were designed with unique architecture and style and were built within 12 corners.
There is a Buddhist meditation center in the area and monks are usually seen in the morning. The place offers picturesque views and due to its peaceful location, a lot of retreats are being held here. Visitors are requested to wear respectable clothing.
What to Expect
This temple features traditional Thai Buddhist architecture with ornate decorations, gilded spires, and sacred Buddha images. The grounds include the main prayer hall (ubosot), various chedis and viharns, and often a bell tower. Monks reside here and conduct daily prayers.
