Chan Sen Museum, Chainat

Nestled within the temple complex of Wat Chan Sen, the museum embodies the rich history and cultural legacy of the Chan Sen community. Housed on the ground floor of Phra Mahathat Chedi Si Chan Sen, the museum was established under the guidance of the former abbot, Phra Khru Nisai Chariyakun or Luang Pho Ot. The museum features several captivating exhibits; such as, “History and Development of Chan Sen Community”, “Artefacts from the Ancient City”, Local Wisdom and Lifestyle, and “Biography of Phra Khru Nisai Chariyakun” with his statue in the centre of the room for worshipping. Another striking feature of the museum is the ceiling adorned with murals. These artworks depict the history of Buddhism, the biography of Lord Buddha, and the historical context of the museum itself, adding an artistic dimension to the educational experience. Guided tours are available, conducted by young volunteers from Wat Chan Sen School and Chan Sen Ang Suwan Anusorn School. These tours not only cover the museum but also include excursions to the ancient city, offering a comprehensive understanding of the area’s heritage. Open Wednesday to Sunday and public holidays 09.00-16.00 hrs. Guided services by young volunteers are available on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays. For further details contact , Tel.
