The shrine’s origins can be traced back to a Chinese ancestor named Akong, who reportedly had frequent visions of two serpent kings in the ancient swamp (built since the Dvaravati period) near Chan Sen Ancient City. These sightings led to a Chinese fortune-telling session that ultimately resulted in the decision to build a shrine fulfilling the Naga’s desire. Originally a modest structure, the shrine was gradually expanded through the contributions of donors who shared a deep faith in the Naga. Over time, it evolved into a beautifully constructed shrine and a cultural tourist attraction. The Nagaraja Shrine boasts an exquisite Chinese architectural style, reflecting the philosophy and principles of Mahayana Chinese Buddhism. It houses statues of various revered deities, including Phra Yulai, Guan Yin, Guan Yu, Nezha, Caishen–The God of Wealth, 18-Arhats, and Ti Zhuang-Aung. Open daily 06.00-19.00 hrs.
