Interesting features within the temple include: Phra That Chedi Luang: The largest Lanna-style bell-shaped chedi in Chiang Saen, standing 88 meters tall with a base width of 24 metres. It has a tiered base resembling lotus petal on an octagonal base. Wihan Luang: Located in front of the chedi, it is a large rectangular hall made of bricks with rounded columns. Currently, only the base, the rear wall with a Buddha image, and one of the front columns remain. A roof has been added to cover the original structure. Inside is enshrined the principle Buddha image Phra Chiang Saen Singha 1 and Phra Phuttha U-Khot, the Buddha image in the attitude of Subduing Mara. Additionally, there are several other chedis and artifacts found; such as, sandstone Buddha images, base of a bronze Buddha image, votive tablets, Buddha image’s heads and hands, as well as, numerous sculpted stucco celestial guardian’s faces. Despite significant damage over the years, this archaeological site has been well restored to reflect its significance as a key temple in the history of the Chiang Saen Kingdom within the Lanna Thai Kingdom.
