Sai Buri Old Town, Satun

“Sai Buri”, an ancient port town and a trading district located at the tip of the country, is an area where Muslim and Hokkien Chinese people immigrated to settle down, amiably coexist and form a small multicultural community. Although Sai Buri is now an administrative district in Pattani, its history and origin have been vividly portrayed through the architecture and the way of life of the local people. It is recommended to walk or ride a bike to explore the Sai Buri Old Town, which covers Sai Buri and Tha Sadet Roads in the municipal area. The highlights include old wooden buildings, primarily constructed with hardwood, such as Takhian (Hopea odorata), and the roof structure and the walkways between the buildings that were built in the Melayu style. In addition, for a better experience of the local way of life, it is recommended to visit the Taluban Market in the morning as it is the busiest time of the day, where the local vendors and buyers meet.
