The first giant postbox is located on the corner of Sukyang Road at the Clock Tower Intersection in the Betong city centre. It was built in 1924 before World War 2 by Mr. Sanguan Chirachinda, former post and telegraph master and Mayor of Betong subdistrict. It has a radio transmitter on top of the postbox. The purpose is to report the country’s news to the people of Betong, and it is still used as a post box at the present time. Currently, a new, larger post box is being built at the community hall on Sukyang Road. It will be 9 metres high, and it is a prominent feature that tourists come to take photos as souvenirs.
