Three small islands connected by pristine white sand bars create one of Rayong’s most photogenic coastal experiences. Ko Kruai, Ko Kham, and Ko Plai Tin emerge from turquoise waters just offshore from the mainland, offering visitors the unique opportunity to walk between separate islands during low tide when the sand bridges are fully exposed.
Crystal-clear waters surrounding the islands provide excellent snorkeling conditions, with colorful coral formations visible just meters from shore. The shallow bays between the islands teem with tropical fish, while hermit crabs scuttle across the exposed sand bars during low tide. Each island offers its own character – Ko Kham features the largest beach area perfect for sunbathing, while Ko Kruai and Ko Plai Tin provide rocky outcrops ideal for exploring tide pools. The gentle lapping of waves and calls of seabirds create a natural soundtrack as you wade through knee-deep water between the islands.
Pure tranquility defines the experience here, with minimal development preserving the islands’ natural beauty. Few crowds mean you’ll often have entire stretches of beach to yourself, interrupted only by the occasional longtail boat bringing day-trippers from the mainland. The sense of discovery feels genuine as you explore hidden coves and watch the landscape transform with the changing tides.
Visit during low tide for the best island-hopping experience, typically occurring twice daily with timing varying by season. Longtail boats depart regularly from nearby piers in Rayong, with the journey taking approximately 20 minutes. Bring sun protection, snorkeling gear, and water shoes for walking on the sand bars. Since no accommodation exists on the islands, plan for a day trip and return to mainland Rayong for overnight stays.
