7 Day Vipassana Silent Meditation Retreat, Koh Phangan, Thailand

set on Koh Phangan’s unspoiled coastline, Sadhama’s seven-day vipassana retreat dissolves the noise of daily life through a carefully structured immersion in silent practice. Participants move through the day across sitting and walking meditations that build profound mindfulness, anchored by daily yoga sessions designed to deepen body awareness and activate the parasympathetic nervous system. The retreat’s foundation rests on traditional Dhamma teachings delivered through dharma talks and one-on-one consultations with experienced instructors, creating space for genuine insight rather than surface relaxation. What distinguishes this retreat is its integration of dynamic practice—walking meditation is woven throughout rather than treated as supplementary, allowing practitioners to embody mindfulness in motion alongside seated stillness. The surrounding landscape becomes part of the practice; participants connect intimately with Koh Phangan’s natural rhythms and sacred land through deliberate immersion.

Nourishment supports transformation at every level. Locally sourced, lovingly prepared meals accommodate vegetarian, vegan, organic, and gluten-free requirements, while herbal teas punctuate the day. Comfortable accommodation with modern amenities—hot showers and fresh water—ensures the retreat remains accessible without sacrificing practice depth. At $385.75 USD for seven days including all meals, accommodation, and instruction, the investment removes barriers for serious practitioners.

This retreat serves both beginners seeking their first meditation foundation and experienced practitioners ready for intensive deepening. The 4.92-star rating across 61 reviews reflects its authenticity—this is disciplined, transformative practice in a striking natural setting, not a wellness spa resort.

Can I share my accommodation with my friend/partner?
On this retreat in particular, sharing accommodation between partners or friends is not permitted. We do this to give every participant the best chance of succeeding with the precept of noble silence. It is also because Vipassana meditation is a very personal journey, and one that should be undertaken in an environment with as few opportunities for distraction or disturbance as possible to your own experience. If you would like any further clarification on this, please do get in touch.
Can I miss sessions if I want to or follow a timetable which I feel better suits my requirements?
Participants on this retreat are required to attend all sessions and follow the timetable as given. The scheduling we follow aligns with Vipassana retreats worldwide and is designed to replicate monastic living. This extended continuity of practice is essential for success in the technique. There is plenty of time allocated for rest within the timetable. Sometimes, people can find the wake-up time on the timetable daunting, as it is earlier than most people usually rise. I see you only provide breakfast and lunch. Can I bring my own food for dinner/snacks?
When undertaking a Vipassana retreat, participants make a commitment to observe a set number of precepts, as laid down in the Buddhist sutras that describe the practice of Vipassana meditation. One of those precepts is to refrain from eating after midday. Therefore, we serve a wholesome, filling meal at breakfast and lunch, but not in the evening. We serve fruits and a warming, milky drink in the evening break, such as spiced chai or cacao instead. While this may be less food than you are used t

On this retreat, we can accept only participants who are committed to attending for the full seven days. As it is a silent retreat, there is no opportunity to revisit this later. The meditation technique is also introduced progressively, so participants need to be there for the full week to gain a developed understanding o
This is a silent retreat. What happens if I have an issue I need to communicate?
Noble silence on the retreat begins on the evening of the first day, after all the orientation and induction talks have been given, and after participants have been given the opportunity to ask any questions that have arisen since their arrival. Silence continues until the evening of the sixth day. There will be an opportunity to share and discuss your experience with your fellow meditators on the final, seventh day. During the retreat, there will be daily opportunities to meet with the meditati

We recommend that participants hand in their phones at the beginning of the retreat for safekeeping. We will give participants a mobile phone number from the organising team, which they can pass on to friends or family for contact if needed. Any messages from family or friends that need to reach participants will be communicated directly by a member of the organising team.
