Affinit Orchids

Affinit Orchids is a working orchid nursery on 20 rai (about 3.2 hectares) of land in U Thong district, Suphan Buri — not a landscaped tourist garden, but a genuine growing operation for Dendrobium, Cattleya, Vanda and Mokara orchids, raised for research, education and sale. It’s open daily from 8 AM to 5 PM, admission is free, and individual visitors are welcome to walk through; groups are asked to call ahead so staff can plan around the day’s nursery work.

Expect rows of orchids at various growth stages rather than a curated display — this is a production nursery first, open to visitors second. That makes it a specialist stop: worthwhile if you’re already interested in orchid cultivation or want to see how Thailand’s export nurseries operate, less so if you’re after a polished garden experience with cafes and gift shops, because there isn’t one here.

The turn-off from Highway 324 is easy to miss — watch for the signpost near the km 46-47 marker, then follow the side road about 200 metres to the entrance. There’s no public transport running directly to the site, so your own vehicle (or a taxi arranged from U Thong) is the practical way in.

Insider Tip: Call ahead even as an individual visitor if you want someone to walk you through the growing houses and explain what you’re looking at — staff are set up for that on request, but won’t necessarily offer it unprompted to a walk-in visitor.

Morning visits are cooler and catch the blooms at their freshest before the afternoon heat. Wear closed shoes, since growing areas can have damp or uneven ground between rows. If you’re touring U Thong’s other sights the same day, the U Thong National Museum, which covers the area’s Dvaravati-era history, is a short drive away.
