Kwang Peeb (also written Ao Kwang Peeb) is a small, secluded bay at the northern tip of Koh Phayam, reached on foot down a steep sandy trail through the jungle rather than by road. It’s one of the quietest beaches on an already quiet island — most of Koh Phayam’s accommodation and restaurants cluster around Ao Yai and Ao Khao Kwai further south, leaving this stretch largely to the handful of guests at its one resort.
The sand here is finer than on Koh Phayam’s bigger beaches, and the bay itself is short — closer to a few hundred metres than a sweeping shoreline. Swimming conditions are generally calm rather than wave-heavy; the island’s real surf beach is Ao Yai on the southwest coast, not Kwang Peeb. What Kwang Peeb offers instead is genuine isolation: no lifeguard, no public toilets, and often no other visitors in sight.
Insider Tip: Bring cash, water, and anything else you need for the day — there’s no ATM or shop out here, and the single resort’s restaurant has limited hours and a short menu.
Watch out: Power on this side of the island runs only a few hours after dark, wifi is effectively nonexistent, and mobile signal is unreliable. Dogs aren’t allowed on the beach, and the jungle trail in is genuinely steep — wear shoes with grip, not flip-flops.
The trade-off for the awkward access is privacy: sunbathing, swimming, and watching the sunset here without another group in sight, which is rare even by Koh Phayam’s laid-back standards. Snorkelling gear and kayaks can be rented at the resort for exploring the bay itself. If you want more to do on the same trip, Hin Talu and Wat Koh Phayam are both worth combining with a beach day further south on the island.
