Blue Elephant runs this class at its Governor’s Mansion on Krabi Road, in Phuket Town. The building is a restored Sino-Portuguese mansion, and the restaurant downstairs is where you eat your cooking afterwards.
This is the morning session, the only one that includes a market visit. A guide takes the group to a local market to pick out fresh produce and explain how to choose good ingredients. Back at the school, everyone gets their own cooking station. You cook four dishes.
What you cook
The four dishes depend on the day of the week:
- Monday: Thai fish cakes, hot and sour prawn soup, red curry with beef, stir-fried rice noodles with prawns
- Tuesday: golden bags stuffed with green curry, green curry with chicken, sweet and sour fish, spicy green mango salad
- Wednesday: rose spring rolls, coconut milk soup with prawns, roast duck curry, chicken stir-fried with southern curry paste
- Thursday: duck breast salad with lychee, coconut milk soup with chicken and mushroom, prawns stir-fried with chilli paste, grilled fish with herbs
- Friday: chicken satay, pomelo salad, prawns stir-fried with yellow curry, steamed fish with lime and chilli
- Saturday: clear soup with rambutan, golden samosas, yellow curry with beef, prawns stir-fried with tamarind sauce
- Sunday: grilled fish soufflé in leaves, spicy beef soup with herbs, duck breast with tamarind sauce, stir-fried noodles with chicken and holy basil
The school can swap a dish when an ingredient isn’t available.
What you take home
You get a herbal drink and a cold towel when you arrive, an apron, the recipes, a certificate and a shopping bag of Blue Elephant products. After class you eat your dishes in the restaurant, and you can order more from the menu.

This listing runs with a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 20 people. Children aged 6 to 11 pay a child rate. Hotel transfers aren’t included.
