Half Day : Sok River + Monkey Temple + View Point

Activity provider: Khaolak Planner

Reviewed Jul 2026

Highlights

  • Our guide will pick you up from your hotel in Khao Lak, drive to Khao Sok National Park

This half-day tour from Khao Lak runs about four hours, mixing a bamboo raft ride on the Sok River with a stop at Khao Sok’s monkey temple and a viewpoint over the national park — from $61 per person, rated 4.66 from 32 reviews.

The guide collects you from your hotel and drives into Khao Sok National Park, stopping first at Khao Sok Viewpoint for the wide shot of rainforest, limestone peaks and morning mist. By 8:30am you’re on the Sok River itself, aboard a bamboo raft steered by a local paddler past limestone cliffs, birdlife and the occasional reptile sunning on the bank. Halfway down, the group stops on the riverbank while the crew boils water over an open fire for jungle coffee, served in a bamboo cup. After more rafting, a driver picks you up and detours to Panturat Temple, home to a resident troop of wild macaques, before heading back to Khao Lak by around noon.

Groups are capped at 10, transport runs in an air-conditioned vehicle, and the pace is easy — the operator rates it suitable for all fitness levels, though not recommended for anyone with spinal injuries or who is pregnant. Bottled water, tea and coffee are included; only photo souvenirs cost extra.

Insider Tip: The jungle coffee stop happens mid-raft, not at the start — hold off on a coffee at the hotel and wait for the open-fire brew, since it’s part of what you’re paying for.

This suits travelers who want a taste of Khao Sok without committing to an overnight jungle stay; anyone hoping for wildlife spotting beyond monkeys and riverside birds should book a longer Khao Sok trip instead.
