Andalay Beach Resort Koh Libong sits right on the beach at 117/4 Moo 5 in Trang’s Kantang district, on Koh Libong — one of Thailand’s best spots for wild dugong sightings. Villas, standard rooms, family houses and connecting rooms give you more layout choice than most island resorts this size.
Verified rooms include the 40-square-metre Oriental Beach Front and Oriental Deluxe villas and the 26-square-metre Anda Deluxe Room, plus family houses sleeping four to six and a private-pool villa for six. Rooms come with a fridge, minibar and kettle rather than a cooking kitchen — plan on the on-site restaurant and bar, or bring supplies over from Trang.
Two outdoor pools, kayaks, cycling, snorkelling gear, Thai massage and a tour desk round out the facilities. The resort also runs its own dugong-watching trips by long-tail boat near Khao Toh Te; some guests climb through a cave to reach a cliff-top viewpoint instead. Dugongs are wild and shy, so treat any sighting as a bonus rather than a certainty.
Insider Tip: Treat the crossing from Trang as three separate legs — road transfer, long-tail boat, then local vehicle — and confirm all three with the resort together, so a delay on one doesn’t strand you on the next.
Reaching the resort takes roughly 1 hour 15 minutes by road from Trang Airport or the railway station to Hat Yao Pier, 20 to 30 minutes by long-tail boat to Baan Prao Pier, then about 15 minutes by local vehicle — longer if the tide or weather is against you. Check-in runs 15:00 to 20:00, checkout by noon; flag a late arrival in advance.
