Rooms are sold as three-star, but the real draw is the setting and facilities rather than the star rating. It suits drivers and families after a pool and some distance from town — less so if you want to walk to dinner every night, since the bridge and central sights sit several kilometres off.

Insider Tip: Book your return transport back from central Kanchanaburi before you head out for the evening. Nong Bua is quiet enough that local restaurants and shops start closing earlier than you’d expect.
