Nee Puer Nong Flea Market

Nee Puer Nong Flea Market is a Saturday-morning market with an unusual origin: it started as a student project. Phichit’s Primary Educational Service Area Office launched it in 2009 to give schoolchildren a way to earn a little money in their free time, selling household goods and OTOP products their families bring in from villages around the province. Teachers and parents help run the stalls alongside the kids, and the market has kept going in the same spot - right in front of the Phichit Provincial Governor’s Office - every Saturday since.

The mix on offer leans toward what a rural Phichit household actually makes or grows: fresh produce, home-preserved foods, and OTOP-branded crafts sit next to simple snacks cooked to order. Because it’s staffed largely by students, the atmosphere is friendlier and less transactional than a typical trading market - regulars know which stall belongs to which family, and prices stay modest. It’s a small market by Thai standards, easy to walk in twenty minutes, but it gives a genuine look at a community project rather than a manufactured “authentic market” experience built for tourists.

Vendors set up from around 7am and, like most Thai morning markets, wind down as the heat builds through the late morning. There’s no cover beyond umbrellas and stall awnings, so plan around the early hours if you want to browse without the midday sun. Cash is essential - small denominations make transactions easier, since change can be limited at a market this size.

The market sits in Nai Mueang subdistrict, central Mueang Phichit, an easy stop if you’re already downtown for Bueng Si Fai, the town’s lake park, or browsing Yan Kao Wang Krot Market, an older market on the opposite side of town.
