Also known as: Hat Pramong, Sunset Beach, หาดซันเซ็ท, Ao Sunset
Hat Pramong stretches roughly 200 metres along Koh Lipe’s western coast, making it the shortest of the island’s three main beaches. It faces directly toward Koh Adang, whose forested ridge frames every sunset from late afternoon — the reason most people make the trip here. Arrive before 17:30 to claim a good spot; by 18:00 a small crowd assembles, though numbers are modest compared to Pattaya Beach.
Getting here requires effort. From Walking Street the walk takes 10–15 minutes, ending with a descent via steep wooden steps — rickety in places and difficult after rain. Motorbike taxis (around ฿50 per person) can drop you at the top of the steps. The beach itself has a rougher character than Sunrise Beach: coarse sand, large boulders at the water’s edge, and a rocky seabed that makes swimming uncomfortable unless you wade out carefully. A coral reef sits about 50 metres from the bungalows run by Bayview Sunset, making the spot worthwhile for snorkellers who don’t mind the rocky entry. A couple of low-key bars serve cold beer and basic cocktails; facilities beyond that are thin.
Watch out: Koh Lipe has no landfill, so a waste barge periodically anchors just offshore. When it is docked — usually for several days at a time — the smell can be unpleasant and the view compromised. Timing is unpredictable; check locally before making a special trip.
Insider Tip: The beach faces northwest, not due west, so the sun actually sets slightly behind the profile of Koh Adang during the November–April high season. The best light hits the water in the 20–30 minutes before the sun dips below the ridge, not at the moment of full sunset — plan photo time accordingly.
