This 200-hour teacher training runs at a small centre about 3km outside Ao Nang in Krabi. It follows the Yoga Alliance curriculum and is split into three steps, so you can stop at 50 or 100 hours and come back later to finish. Courses start several times a year.
- Duration: 24 days, 23 nights
- Certificate: 200 hours to Yoga Alliance standards, in 50, 100 and 200-hour stages
- Lead teacher: Aleksandra Usanovic, known as Sashka
- Meals: breakfast and lunch; dinner not included
- Group: 4 to 17 trainees
The course
The first stage, Yoga Foundation, covers 50 hours of alignment, anatomy, philosophy and meditation. Teaching Confidence takes you to 100 hours with sequencing, teaching method and supervised practice. The final stage completes the full curriculum. Practice teaching runs throughout, with feedback from the teachers.
A sample day starts at 7am with two hours of asana or meditation, then breakfast. Theory or alignment fills 10am to noon and 2pm to 4pm, with a two-hour lunch break between. After two hours of self-study, the day ends with yoga or meditation from 6pm to 7:30pm.
Rooms and food
You can book a private deluxe room, a private standard room, a shared twin, or no accommodation at all. Breakfast includes fruit, cereal, yoghurt, homemade soy yoghurt and homemade rye and gluten-free bread, and lunch is served too. Deluxe rooms have a small kitchen, and there’s a shared kitchen for everyone. Students can use a neighbouring resort’s pool, which is walkable.
Watch out: once the first 72 hours after booking have passed, the 20% deposit is gone if you cancel, and pulling out inside a month of the start gets you course credit rather than cash. If the school cancels or reschedules the course, you get everything back, deposit included.
Who it’s for
The modular format suits people who can’t take a full month off, or who want to test teaching before committing. Beginners are accepted. If you want beach life on the doorstep, note the 3km to the beach.
Insider Tip: the centre isn’t in town, so rent a scooter or ask the centre to arrange tuk-tuk rides for evenings in Ao Nang.
Getting there
Krabi airport is about 30 minutes away, and the centre can arrange a paid pickup; the cheaper alternative is the shared shuttle bus to Ao Nang and a tuk-tuk from there. From Phuket allow around three hours by bus or minibus, or two by speedboat. Check your visa before you book: with most nationalities now on a 30-day or 15-day exemption, a 24-day course plus travel days may need a tourist visa arranged in advance. November to April is the dry high season in Ao Nang, with temperatures of 24 to 34°C year-round.
