Kanchanaburi: River Kwai Bridge & Hellfire Pass by Train

This is a private full-day trip from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi for a group of up to 10, with an official guide, a driver and an air-conditioned vehicle. It combines the Bridge over the River Kwai, a train ride along the Death Railway and Hellfire Pass, and it finishes at Saiyoke Noi waterfall. It suits a family or group of friends who want the war-history sites of Kanchanaburi without joining a shared tour.

What the day covers

The day starts with pickup from your hotel in Bangkok, around 7 AM. Hellfire Pass gets the longest block, about two hours, at the Interpretive Centre and Memorial Walking Trail, where you walk through the pass and visit the memorial.

Kanchanaburi War Cemetery comes next, with a guided visit of about 30 minutes to the Allied war cemetery. The JEATH War Museum follows, also guided, for about an hour. At the Bridge over the River Kwai you have about 30 minutes of free time. The train ride on the Death Railway and the stop at Saiyoke Noi waterfall complete the day. Admission is included at Hellfire Pass, the war cemetery, the museum and the bridge.

You are back at your hotel in Bangkok at around 6 PM, which makes for a day of roughly 10 to 12 hours.
