Foodie Experience of Historic Bang Rak

A 3.5-hour food walk through the century-old Bang Rak neighbourhood in Bangkok stacks at least 12 tastings across 5 generations-old eateries. It runs for up to 14 people, and won Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Best Tour Program in 2013.

The Experience: the route opens with roasted duck and rice at a century-old shop, then moves to a Thai-Muslim food stop before a short history detour past Wat Suan Phlu and the old “village of love.” Thai custard bread and milk tea follow, with time built in to sit and eat rather than rush through. A ferry crossing leads to a Northeastern Thai restaurant for papaya salad, lemon grass, and spicy pork salad, before the walk closes with crispy dough and green curry.
