This 7.5-hour day trip is built around Phuket Elephant Sanctuary, a 30-acre property bordering Khao Phra Thaeo National Park. It’s billed as Phuket’s first ethical elephant sanctuary: there’s no riding and no forced bathing, and the day is built around observation. Guests start with a video presentation on the history and welfare of Asian elephants, then spend the morning watching the herd roam, play and bathe on their own terms, break for a vegetarian Thai lunch, and finish the afternoon at a hydrotherapy pool before helping prepare the elephants’ evening food.

Itinerary
Your morning starts with a video presentation on the history and plight of Asian elephants, after which the tour guide takes you to explore the 30-acre sanctuary to observe the elephants as they roam, play and bathe freely. The morning ends with a vegetarian Thai lunch. Guests are then taught about the communication patterns of elephants and explore their natural habitat to learn about their role as a keystone species in the ecosystem. Next, you meet some of the elephants at the hydrotherapy pool and observe them in the water. Finally, you help prepare supplementary elephant food and have a vegetarian meal to end the day. The program includes 2 meals, soft drinks, water, juices, coffee and a complimentary T-Shirt.
