Akira Lipe Resort is a beachfront resort on Pattaya Beach, on the west side of Koh Lipe in Satun province, with three swimming pools and 80-plus rooms in five types. The resort says it is a 5-minute walk from Walking Street, the island’s main strip of restaurants and shops.

Rooms run from 44 to 59 square metres, large for Koh Lipe, and every category is built around the pools.
- Superior Pool Access (44 sq m): a king bed or two singles, with a private balcony and daybed and direct access to the pool.
- Superior Pool View (44 sq m): a terrace with table and sofa facing the pool, a little more privacy than the access rooms.
- Deluxe Pool Access and Deluxe Pool View (52 sq m): more floor space, a sofa and a large sofa on the balcony.
- Villa Suite (59 sq m): the biggest category, with a separate living area, set among the tropical planting near the pool and beach.
Booking.com also lists a Garden Pool Villa. Rooms have air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, a work desk, a mini-bar and a safe, and bathrooms have a bathtub or walk-in shower. If you are travelling with children, ask which rooms are closest to the kids’ pool.
Location and getting there
The resort sits on Pattaya Beach. Booking.com gives the sand as 40 feet away, Sunset Beach as about 1,450 feet and Sunrise Beach as 0.7 miles. Our guides to Sunrise Beach and Sunset Beach cover the other two. Guest comments mention a few minutes on foot to Walking Street and the ferry.
There is no airport on the island. Plan the route in our Koh Lipe guide: fly to Hat Yai or Trang, minivan to Pak Bara, then a boat across. The resort says Koh Lipe is open to tourists all year, but boats thin out between May and October, so confirm sailings before you book.

- Three pools: a children’s pool, a long pool running between the room blocks, and a pool beside the beach with a pool bar.
- Akira bistro serving Thai and European dishes, plus a beachfront bar with cocktails and smoothies.
- A breakfast buffet from 07:00 to 11:00, with an egg station, a chicken noodle counter and fresh bakery.
- On Wednesdays from 18:00 to 22:00 the resort runs a dinner buffet and a seafood night on the beach. Seafood is charged separately.
- Free gym, kids’ club, library, meeting rooms and an outdoor karaoke area.
Who Akira Lipe Resort suits (and who it doesn’t)
It suits families and couples who want a pool and a beach in one place, and anyone who wants a big, quiet room after a day of snorkelling. Guests praise the pools, spacious rooms and the breakfast variety.
It suits less well anyone after a barefoot bungalow stay with sand underfoot. This is a managed resort with a bar, evening entertainment and a karaoke area. Pets are not allowed.

Insider Tip: Choose a Pool Access room if you want to step into the water from your door, and ask for a room nearer the beach side of the grounds. Time your stay for a Wednesday if you want the beach dinner.
