Phayam Coconut Beach Resort sits directly on Aow Yai Beach, the sunset-facing bay on Koh Phayam. The property mixes ordinary rooms, suites and sea-view bungalows rather than being a bungalow-only setup, and since Booking.com and Agoda don’t agree on a star rating for it, we’ve left that off rather than guess.

The clearest options are the 20 sqm Deluxe Double Sea View, the 20 sqm Queen Garden View, the 30 sqm Economy Double and the 30 sqm Deluxe Sea View Bungalow. Booking.com also lists a Superior Suite, a Suite, a Triple Sea View and a Superior King, though bed types and sizes vary between listings for those, so check the exact room before you book.

Don’t expect a kitchen in every room — a few Superior Suites may have cooking facilities, but confirm the specific unit first. Shared amenities cover a private beach, restaurant, bar, public-area Wi-Fi, a garden, sun terrace, kids’ playground, fishing, windsurfing, hiking, badminton, a tour desk, laundry and parking. There’s no pool.

Insider Tip: Ask about the room’s position, cooling and hot water before booking — “Sea View,” “Garden View” and “Bungalow” are genuinely different setups here, and only some sit right beside the sand.

This suits travellers happy with a small island’s slower pace and transport in exchange for beach access on Aow Yai. It’s a weaker fit if you need a pool, in-room Wi-Fi or a guaranteed kitchen. Getting here means a boat from Ranong — the slow boat runs about one to two hours, the speedboat around 45 minutes — then roughly 3 km by island taxi or motorbike from the pier to Aow Yai.

Pros
  • Right on Aow Yai’s sand
  • Rooms, suites and bungalows to choose from
  • Restaurant, bar and beach activities on site
  • Kids’ playground and garden space
Cons
  • No swimming pool
  • Wi-Fi only covers public areas
  • Some room details vary between listings
  • A boat plus island transfer to get here

Use the Koh Phayam guide to compare boat options and the island’s beach areas before you go.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get to Phayam Coconut Beach Resort?
Take a boat from Ranong to Koh Phayam, then continue roughly 3 km to Aow Yai by island taxi or motorbike (about 70-80 THB, 5-10 minutes). The slow boat runs 1-2 hours; the speedboat takes about 45 minutes.
What type of accommodation does the resort offer?
Booking.com lists a mix of rooms, suites and sea-view bungalows here, not a bungalow-only setup. Only the beachfront categories open directly onto the sand.
Do rooms have kitchens?
Not as standard. A few Superior Suites may have cooking facilities, but check the exact unit before booking if self-catering matters to you.
Is the resort directly on the beach?
Yes, for its beachfront section on Aow Yai. Garden-view and inland-facing rooms are part of the same resort but don't all sit beside the sand.
