Baannoirimkong Farmstay

Baannoirimkong Farmstay is a community-run tourism enterprise on a klong (canal) in Wang Mai, Wang Sombun district — eastern Sa Kaeo province, not far from the Cambodian border. It’s part homestay, part day-trip stop: locals run canoe trips along the canal and vegetable-picking sessions for visitors who only have a few hours, alongside overnight lodging for anyone who wants to stay.

The paddle along the klong is the main draw — a slow canoe or kayak trip past the farm plots and canal-side vegetation that the community works day to day, with a guide from the enterprise pointing out what’s growing and how the irrigation feeds the fields. Vegetable-picking sessions let you harvest from the community’s own plots, and produce picked that morning tends to end up in whatever meal the hosts put together for guests. This isn’t a polished eco-resort with a set activity menu — it’s a small community enterprise (a Thai government-recognised model where local households pool a shared tourism business), so what’s on offer, and what it costs, gets worked out directly with the hosts rather than through a fixed price list.

Insider Tip: Call ahead rather than turning up — this is a handful of local families running the show, not a staffed visitor centre, and activities like the canoe trip need to be set up in advance so a guide and boat are actually free.

Watch out: English isn’t guaranteed on the phone or on-site. If you don’t speak Thai, arrange the visit through a Sa Kaeo tour operator or ask a Thai-speaking friend to call ahead and confirm times and price.

There’s no public transport to the farmstay itself, so plan on a car, a rented motorbike, or a pickup arranged with the hosts from Wang Sombun town.
