Laem Kham (Kham Cape)

Laem Kham is a cape and roughly 3km stretch of sand in Khlong Prasong subdistrict, a short drive south of Krabi Town. Entry is free, there’s no gate or ticket booth, and — unlike the developed beaches around Ao Nang — it has no confirmed vendors, lifeguard service, or rental stalls. Local tourism listings categorise it as much as a scenic viewpoint over the limestone coastline as a beach in its own right.

The appeal here is the setting rather than a resort-style beach day: Krabi’s karst limestone formations rise along this stretch of Andaman coastline, and the cape gives an open view across the water without the crowds that gather at Ao Nang or the more famous Railay beaches. Casuarina trees line parts of the shore, and longtail boats from the nearby fishing communities pass along the coast — take the water clarity and sand quality claims you’ll see elsewhere online with a pinch of salt, since neither has an independently verifiable source for this specific stretch.

Because there’s minimal built infrastructure, the atmosphere depends entirely on who else has shown up that day — it can be nearly empty on a weekday morning, especially outside the cooler months when Krabi’s more famous beaches pull the crowds elsewhere.

Insider Tip: Pair a stop here with the Ko Klang community across the water or Krabi Town’s riverside walking street — Laem Kham itself is a quick, quiet detour rather than a destination that needs a half-day on its own.

Visit during the dry season, November to April, when the Andaman coast sees calmer seas and clearer visibility than the May-October monsoon window. Getting there means a short drive or motorbike ride south from Krabi Town into Khlong Prasong — there’s no dedicated tourist bus route, so a rental car, motorbike, or arranged taxi is the practical way in.
