Namtok Taphoen Khi

Namtok Taphoen Khi is a two-tier waterfall inside the Phu Toei National Park area of Dan Chang district, 51 km from the district town and 33 km from the park headquarters. Entry costs 100 THB for foreign adults (50 THB children), 20 THB for Thai adults (10 THB children), open daily 08:00-16:00.

The waterfall runs year-round, feeding a patch of forest where a Karen community has lived for more than two centuries — one of the longer-settled hill villages in this part of Suphan Buri. Lush tree cover surrounds both tiers, and the site functions as much as an ecotourism and light-adventure stop as a swimming destination: trails through the surrounding forest connect to broader Phu Toei National Park terrain rather than stopping at the falls themselves.

Because it sits well off the main Suphan Buri tourist routes — over 50 km from Dan Chang town on rural roads — Taphoen Khi sees a fraction of the visitors that hit better-known Kanchanaburi waterfalls. That distance is the tradeoff: fewer crowds, but a longer drive with fewer facilities once you’re there.

Insider Tip: Call the park office (0 3559 5215) before setting out if you’re visiting outside the cool season — flow and trail conditions on unstaffed rural roads like this one are worth checking ahead rather than discovering on arrival.

Watch out: This is a genuine rural park entrance, not a paved tourist stop. Fuel up before leaving Dan Chang town, and don’t expect food vendors at the site itself.
