Namtok Tat Duean

Namtok Tat Duean is a roughly 10-metre waterfall on Huai Mae Tha Phae stream, about 500 metres from the headquarters of Si Satchanalai National Park in northern Sukhothai province. There’s no separate ticket for the waterfall — it’s covered by the park’s general entrance fee, 200 THB for foreign adults (100 THB child) and 40 THB for Thai adults (20 THB child), paid at the park gate.

The water curls down a series of rock ledges into a pool along a wide, flat stone bank — a practical layout for a swim stop, with somewhere to sit and dry off afterward rather than a narrow gorge. Being only a short walk from the park’s headquarters makes it one of the more accessible falls in a park that’s better known for the Sukhothai-era temple ruins scattered through its northern section, so it tends to draw a mix of ruin-focused and nature-focused visitors rather than serious hikers alone.

Insider Tip: Since it’s covered by the same ticket as the rest of Si Satchanalai National Park, it’s easy to combine with a look at the park’s Wat Chang Lom and Wat Chedi Chet Thaeo ruins on the same visit rather than treating it as a separate trip.

Flow follows the rainy season — strongest from roughly June through November, noticeably thinner by April and May at the end of the dry season. The forest canopy keeps the immediate area shaded, and the short approach means sturdy sandals are fine rather than full hiking boots, though the rocks near the pool get slippery when wet. Watch out: there’s no lifeguard, so keep an eye on children in and around the pool.

Bring swimwear, a towel, and cash for the park gate — card payment isn’t reliable this far from town. The park lies about 60 km north of Sukhothai city via Highway 101, and the waterfall is best paired with the rest of Si Satchanalai National Park rather than visited on its own, given they share one ticket.
