Patong Boxing Stadium Sainamyen

Patong Boxing Stadium (usually called Sainamyen, after its road) puts on live Muay Thai Monday to Saturday in Patong. Doors open at 19:30, the first bout is at 21:00 and a night of 6 to 8 bouts is over by about midnight. It is not the same place as the better-known Bangla Boxing Stadium, which is a separate venue behind Jungceylon, so check which one your ticket is for.

What a fight night is like

The card builds as it goes. Younger and less experienced fighters open, and the better matchups land later in the evening. Every fighter performs the wai khru ram muay first, the ritual dance that honours trainers and teachers, set to live pi chawa (Thai oboe) and drums. In the corners, trainers ice cuts and shout instructions between rounds.

Two seat types are on sale. Ringside is an assigned seat close to the ring. Stadium seating has no assigned seat, so arriving early gets you the better view. Doors open an hour and a half before the first bout, which is when you can watch the fighters warm up and visit the food and drink counters.

Thai regulars in the crowd often explain the scoring if you ask, which helps if you do not follow Muay Thai judging.

Tickets, hotel van and how to get there

Tickets are sold at the stadium’s own ticket site, by WhatsApp on the number the stadium lists on its website, and through booking platforms. The stadium advertises a free shared van from hotels in Patong, Kata and Karon, which you add when you book, with pickups timed around 19:30. Driving yourself works too, since the stadium has parking.

On foot it is a short walk from the main beach strip. Tuk-tuks and motorbike taxis reach it from anywhere in town.

Insider Tip: Book ahead if you want a ringside seat or the hotel van, and book before 18:00 if you need the van on the same night. For a seat with no assigned place, arrive when doors open.

Watch out: Patong has two big Muay Thai stadiums under a kilometre apart, and resellers use similar names. A voucher for Bangla Boxing Stadium will not get you in here, and the other way round. Street sellers near Bangla Road sell upgrades at their own prices, so compare against the stadium’s own ticket page first.
