Prasomsap Garden

Prasomsap Garden is a 9-rai working fruit orchard in Ban Khai district, on Rayong’s inland side away from the province’s beaches and industrial estates. Owner Prajuab Jamneansri, known locally as Lung Juab, has planted the grounds with mangosteen, longkong, durian, rambutan, santol, and marian plum (mayongchid), tending them with natural pest deterrents and bio-fertiliser instead of chemical sprays. Walking the grounds is free, open daily 08:30-16:30; an optional fruit-tasting buffet costs extra and varies with what’s in season.

This is a working farm you can walk through, not a landscaped park — the appeal is seeing how Thai fruit is actually grown, not manicured display beds. Lung Juab and his family often talk visitors through the sufficiency-economy farming principles behind the orchard: crop diversity, natural fertiliser, and avoiding debt-driven monoculture, ideas rooted in the late King Bhumibol’s rural development philosophy that many small Thai orchards like this one have adopted. Shaded rows of fruit trees make for an easy, flat walk, and during fruit season (roughly April to June) the smell of ripening durian and mangosteen carries through the whole property.

Insider Tip: Come during peak fruit season (April-June) if the point of the visit is tasting — outside that window the orchard is still worth a walk, but the buffet has far less on offer and durian in particular may be unavailable entirely.

Watch out: This is a small, family-run operation without a formal visitor centre or English signage — call ahead before driving out, especially if you want the fruit buffet or are hoping to arrange the homestay option.

Prasomsap Garden sits within easy reach of Rayong’s other agritourism stops in Ban Khai district — Thai Mangosteen Orchard Rayong is a smaller free-entry mangosteen grove in the same district, while Suan Suphatthra offers a larger, more commercial durian-orchard experience with tram tours if you want a bigger operation nearby. Combine two or three on the same inland day trip from Rayong town, and go early — fruit-picking and tasting activities wind down by mid-afternoon.
