Wangchan Forest Learning Center

Wangchan Forest Learning Center is a reforestation demonstration site in Wang Chan district run by PTT’s Reforestation and Ecosystem Institute, open free of charge Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00-16:00 (closed Mondays). PTT has managed the land since 1994, replanting what was originally part of the company’s Rayong industrial footprint into a working forest used to research and teach reforestation and watershed-protection techniques.

The site functions primarily as an education venue — school groups and corporate visits are its main traffic, and independent travellers who show up will find shaded trails through mixed secondary forest, interpretive stations explaining tree species and forest-layer structure, and demonstration plots showing how PTT’s foresters propagate and plant seedlings at scale. It’s a working research site rather than a polished visitor attraction, so exhibits lean instructional (signage, sample plots, a small display building) rather than interactive-museum flashy. Birdlife is genuinely present in the canopy — hornbill and kingfisher calls carry through the trails in the early morning — but this isn’t a wildlife-spotting circuit on the scale of Khao Yai or Khao Chamao.
