Old Siam Bangkok Food Tour with 15+ Tastings
Availability checked
The tour starts with a khlong boat ride into a district of Old Bangkok that most foreign visitors never reach. Only eight people on the tour each day, which matters — food tours at twenty guests end up feeling like a queue, not a meal. Over four hours you work through more than fifteen tastings, and the pace is deliberate enough that you can actually register what you’re eating.
You meet outside Big C Supercenter on Ratchadamri Road, where the guide team waits under the white BIG C sign. From there it’s onto a local boat for the canal ride, then a tuk-tuk deeper into the old city. The walking tour pulls in stalls and shophouse kitchens that have been going for decades — family-run places catering to the Thai lunch crowd, not tourists. Dishes include hoi tod (crispy oyster omelette), slow-braised pork belly, kanom buang yuan (savoury crepe-like salad), and miang kham, the leaf-wrapped bite of ginger, lime, peanut, dried shrimp, and palm sugar that lands somewhere between snack and flavour experiment. There’s Thai curry, royal desserts made from recipes that used to leave the palace kitchens, and a detour past the ruins of Bangkok’s oldest cinema between courses. Bottled water and local soft drinks are included.
Four hours, easy difficulty, capped at eight. The route is walking and tuk-tuk based — not strenuous, but you’re on your feet for most of it in Bangkok humidity. Wear something breathable and shoes that aren’t precious. No hotel pickup, and alcoholic drinks aren’t in the price. Book at least a few days ahead — the small cap means daily departures fill up fast, especially November to February.
Skip this if you’re a committed picky eater. The point is to taste things you wouldn’t otherwise order, and most of the stops lean properly local.

Board a local water taxi ride to glide up one of Bangkok's klong canals next to the city's famous waterways. Disembark in an old district of Bangkok for a tuk tuk ride where you'll navigate local eateries, en-route to a stroll through a lively land market which has been feeding locals since 1899. Forget green curry and pad Thai. There's so many more strings to Thailand's culinary bow. We don't want to spoil the surprise, but there's plenty of drool-worthy tastings of street foods you'd simply never find alone. If you truly want to taste what makes Bangkok's culinary scene tick, this is the food tour for you.
