Khao Sok & Cheow Lan Lake Day Trip from Krabi
Activity provider: Oh-Hoo
Reviewed Oct 2026
This is the long day trip from Krabi to Cheow Lan Lake, the reservoir in the middle of Khao Sok National Park where limestone karsts rise straight out of green water. Expect nine to ten hours in total, including the van ride each way.
An air-conditioned van collects you in the morning and drives past the Ratchaprapha Dam into Surat Thani province. At the pier you board a longtail boat for about two hours on the lake. There’s a photo stop at Khao Sam Kloe, the three-peaked rock formation on the lake, then a hike through the forest to Pra Kai Petch Cave and its limestone formations. Lunch is at a floating restaurant, with time to swim, kayak and ride a bamboo raft before the drive back.
The national park fee is included, along with lunch, drinking water, coffee, fruit, a life jacket and accident insurance. Pickup is free from Krabi Town, Ao Nang, Klong Muang and Tub Kaek. From Railay, you’re collected at the Ao Nam Mao pier ticket office, a 15-minute longtail ride from Railay East. From Ton Sai, you meet at the Phra Nang Inn reception in Ao Nang.
Insider Tip: The operator’s packing list is worth following: closed shoes for the cave trail, swimwear, a dry T-shirt for after the hike, mosquito repellent and sunscreen.
Watch out: It’s a long drive for one day. If you’re staying in Khao Lak, the Cheow Lan trip from Khao Lak is much closer. It also needs at least two passengers to run; the operator offers another date or a refund if it doesn’t.
Children must be at least four. Groups are up to 25.
