Phi Phi, Maya and Bamboo Islands Day Tour by Speedboat in Krabi
Availability checked
I’ll never forget the moment our speedboat rounded the corner into Maya Bay. The emerald water was so clear I could see tropical fish darting between the coral below, and those towering limestone cliffs rose straight up from the sea like ancient guardians. The whole day feels like island-hopping through a postcard – one minute you’re snorkeling with colorful parrotfish around Koh Phi Phi Le, the next you’re lounging on the fine white sand of Bamboo Island with a cold drink in hand. The speedboat ride itself is half the thrill, with that salty spray hitting your face as you zip between islands. When we pulled up to Hat Maya (yes, the actual Beach from the Leonardo DiCaprio movie), I finally understood what all the fuss was about.
The 8-hour tour moves at a perfect pace without feeling rushed. You’ll visit four main stops: the famous Maya Bay, Koh Mai Phai (Bamboo Island) for swimming and relaxing, Koh Bi Da Nok for some of the best snorkeling, and the main Koh Phi Phi island for lunch and exploration. Our guide spoke excellent English and knew exactly where to find the quieter spots for photos. The speedboat holds about 25 people, so it’s social but not overcrowded. Snorkeling gear and a Thai lunch are included, plus they provide life jackets and give a solid safety briefing before departure. Hotel pickup from Krabi town is included, though if you’re staying on the beaches, you might need to meet at a central point.
Book this tour if you want to see Thailand’s most famous islands efficiently in one day. The 4.8-star rating from 65 reviews speaks for itself. Starting at $48, it’s solid value for what you get. Bring reef-safe sunscreen, a waterproof phone case, and comfortable swimwear. The tour runs year-round, but November to April offers the calmest seas. Fair warning: Maya Bay can get crowded during peak season (December-February), and the speedboat ride can be bumpy if you’re prone to seasickness.
Insider Tip: Sit at the back of the boat for the smoothest ride and bring a light jacket – it gets surprisingly cool when you’re wet and cruising at full speed between islands.
Safety Tip: Always stay close to the group while snorkeling and don’t touch the coral – it’s fragile and some types can cause cuts.
