Phuket Jungle Trekking Experience at Khao Phra Taew National Park

Activity provider: Oh-Hoo

Highlights

  • Swim at a jungle waterfall
  • Small group of max 12 guests
  • Led by a local guide
  • 6-hour tour at a steady pace

Khao Phra Taew is Phuket’s last stretch of primary rainforest and the island’s only wild gibbon habitat. This 6-hour trek covers it on foot rather than from a viewing platform, with an English-speaking licensed guide leading groups of up to 12 along trails that are often overgrown rather than manicured. Gibbon sightings are possible near the Gibbon Rehabilitation Project at Bang Pae Waterfall but not guaranteed, and the route passes two waterfalls.

The 200 THB national park fee, the guide, fresh fruit and water during the trek, and a soft drink afterward are all included. Round-trip transfer is bundled free for pairs and larger groups from a wide zone — Kata, Karon, Tri Trang, Patong, Kalim, Kamala, Surin, Bang Tao and Laguna. Solo travellers from those same areas pay 800 THB extra for pickup. Guests staying further out — Nai Thon, Nai Yang, Mai Khao, Panwa, Layan, Rawai, Nai Harn or Phuket town — pay a 400 THB per-person transfer surcharge (minimum 2 people) regardless of group size.

At 4.9 stars, the rating is strong, though it rests on a small base of just 16 reviews.
