Wat Yai Chai Mong Khon is very famous throughout the world as it’s recognized as the World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1991 and it’s very important because it’s the location of 1 of the 8 great stupas of the country which is the highest stupa in Ayutthaya Island with the height of 62.10 meters.

Wat Phanan Choeng was built in 1324, about 26 years before the establishment of the Ayutthaya Kingdom. It is one of the oldest temples in Ayutthaya and has played an important role in Thai religious history. The temple is well known for its large seated Buddha image called Luang Pho Tho, which is about 19 meters high. The statue is deeply respected by both Thai and Chinese worshippers, and among the Chinese it is called “Sam Pao Kong.” According to a legend, the temple is connected to a Chinese princess named Soi Dok Mak, who died tragically before her wedding to a Siamese king. The temple was later built on the site related to her story.

Wat Mahathat temple was built in the late 14C. This temple is very famous because the great holy relics of Lord Buddha was once enshrined in the central prang tower and it’s the location of the sand stone buddha head embedded in the tree’s root which is the highlight of Ayutthaya province.
