Our Jungle Camp - Eco Resort

Treehouses and bamboo huts sit 20 metres above the jungle floor in one of the world’s oldest rainforests — 160 million years, older than the Amazon. Our Jungle Camp drops you into Khao Sok National Park with nothing between you and the gibbons calling at dawn except mosquito netting and open-air walls. You fall asleep to the river below and wake to hornbills overhead. There’s no air conditioning anywhere on the property, by design — the jungle canopy keeps it cooler than you’d expect, though expect humidity.

The farm-to-table restaurant grows its own herbs and vegetables right on-site, and the food is genuinely good — Thai curries with ingredients picked that morning. A portion of guest revenue funds nature camps for Thai children, which gives the eco label real substance. Rooms range from bamboo huts close to the river to treehouses connected by walkways, all with private bathrooms and balconies. You’re allocated by category rather than specific room, so accept the adventure.

Insider Tip: Book the overnight Cheow Lan Lake tour — sleeping in floating bungalows on the lake, waking to limestone karsts emerging from the mist, is worth more than an extra night at the camp. The full-day trip doesn’t capture the same magic.

Scoring 9.0/10 on Booking.com with couples rating the location 9.2, this is Khao Sok’s standout eco experience. River tubing, jungle hikes, and cooking classes fill the days if you want activity; otherwise, a hammock and a book works. The tradeoff is real: no AC means sweaty nights in hot season, open-air walls mean you’ll hear every creature in the forest, and the 2 PM check-in with 8:30 PM cutoff means you need to plan your arrival. Not for comfort-seekers — but that’s the point.
