The Float House River Kwai Resort

The FloatHouse River Kwai is a boat-access resort on the Kwai Noi in Wang Krajae, part of Sai Yok district — there’s no road right up to the door. Leave the car at Phutakien Pier, roughly an hour’s drive (around 60 km) from Kanchanaburi town, and finish the trip by long-tail boat.

Rooms are all Floating Villas, bookable with breakfast only or breakfast and dinner, plus a Panoramic Floating Villa for a better river view. Each has private decks over the water, Wi-Fi, a minibar, safe, TV and a rain shower. Boat wakes and river currents cause some gentle movement — not constant, but light sleepers should know it’s part of the deal.

Insider Tip: Confirm your long-tail boat departure time directly with the resort. Times posted across different booking sites don’t always agree, so don’t plan a tight same-day connection around whichever one you found first.

On site, there’s a restaurant, bar and lounge, massage and canoeing, with other activities arranged locally. Lawa Cave and Mon Village make sensible day trips from here. The Bridge over the River Kwai and Kanchanaburi’s war museums are a different matter — Phutakien Pier alone is around 60 km from the city, before the boat leg out to the resort, so treat this as a river retreat rather than a base for city sightseeing.
