Tours & tickets

The Ao Nang Night Market runs every evening along the Ao Nang beach road, a minute’s walk from the sand. Part of the Ao Nang Landmark complex near the northern end of the strip, it is the most convenient evening out for anyone staying on Krabi’s main beach — a compact run of food carts, bars, and souvenir stalls that fills up once the afternoon heat fades.

Key Facts:
  • When: Every day, ~16:00–23:00 (liveliest after 18:00)
  • Where: Ao Nang beach road, near the 7-Eleven at the north end of the strip
  • Entry: Free
  • Best for: A cheap seafood dinner and a walk after the beach
  • Nearest landmark: Ao Nang Beach / Noppharat Thara end

What to Eat

Food is the main reason to come. Grilled seafood is the headline — prawns, squid, and whole fish laid out on ice and cooked to order — alongside the usual Thai street-food run of pad thai, fried rice, sticky rice with mango, and grilled skewers. Prices are a little above the Thai-town norm because it is a tourist beach, but still cheap by Western standards, and most dishes land in the 60–150 THB range. Fresh fruit shakes and dessert stalls round it out, and there are bars and shared tables if you want to sit with a beer.

Shopping

Between the food, stalls sell the standard beach-town mix: T-shirts and elephant pants, sunglasses, beach bags, soaps, and souvenirs. It is not a craft market — come for the food and the atmosphere rather than serious shopping — but it is a fine place to pick up a few gifts without trekking into Krabi Town.

When to Go

Arrive after 18:00, when the stalls are fully set up and the temperature drops. The market is busiest in the high season (November–March) and quieter in the wet months, though it runs year-round. Because it is open nightly, it is the easy fallback on any evening you do not have other plans.

Getting There

The market is on the main Ao Nang beach road and walkable from nearly every hotel on the strip. If you are coming from Krabi Town it is a 20–30 minute songthaew ride (the white pickups run along the beach road), or a short Grab. From Railay, take the longtail to Ao Nang beach and walk up.

Nearby

After the market, the bars along the Ao Nang beachfront stay open late. For a more local market night, the weekend Krabi Walking Street in Krabi Town is a 25-minute ride inland.

Frequently Asked Questions

What days is the Ao Nang Night Market open?

Every day. Stalls open from around 16:00, but the market only really fills out after 18:00 once the heat drops, and runs to about 23:00. There is no closed day, which makes it the most reliable evening option in Ao Nang.

Where exactly is it?

On the Ao Nang beach road, part of the Ao Nang Landmark complex near the 7-Eleven at the northern end of the strip, across the road from the beach. It is walkable from almost any Ao Nang hotel.

Is there an entry fee?

No, entry is free. Bring cash for the food and souvenir stalls; most vendors do not take cards.

What food is there?

Mostly grilled seafood, Thai street-food standards, and quick international plates, with fresh juice and dessert stalls. There are bars and a few seating areas, so it works as a cheap dinner as much as a shopping stop.

How is it different from the Krabi Town night markets?

Ao Nang's market is beachside and tourist-facing, handy if you are staying on the coast. The weekend [Krabi Walking Street](/attraction/krabi-walking-street/) in Krabi Town is more local and only runs Friday to Sunday. If you have a free evening in town, both are worth a look.
