Hat Nang Ram

Hat Nang Ram sits inside a Royal Thai Navy area on the Samaesan coast of Sattahip, Chonburi, about an hour’s drive south of Pattaya. It runs directly alongside its twin beach, Hat Nang Rong, and the two are usually spoken of together — locals sometimes lump them as “Nang Ram-Nang Rong.” The published entry rate is around 20 THB and the beach is nominally open 07:00-18:00 daily, though both figures are subject to naval activity on any given day.

Because the coastline sits inside an active military area rather than a tourism concession, don’t expect beach clubs, jet-ski rental, or resort infrastructure. What you get instead is a quiet, sand-bottomed shoreline with basic beach chairs and food stalls near the entrance — closer to a well-kept municipal beach than anything branded for visitors. The shallow gradient suits families more than surfers, and the water is noticeably clearer than the beaches around central Pattaya, a direct result of the Navy limiting who can build along this stretch.

Watch out: this is inside an active military base, so treat it accordingly. Bring a passport or ID for gate checks, expect the beach to close without warning during naval exercises, and don’t assume access rules you read on someone’s old blog post still apply — call ahead if you’re planning a special trip around it rather than folding it into other Sattahip stops.

Entry has historically been charged per vehicle at the gate on the adjoining Hat Nang Rong (around 20 THB for a car, motorbikes often waved through free), with the same likely applying here, plus a possible small shuttle fee if you’re required to park at a checkpoint and transfer the last stretch by songthaew. The exact setup varies by day and by which gate is staffed.

There’s no BTS, bus route, or easy public transport option — you’ll need your own car or a pre-arranged taxi from Pattaya or Sattahip town. Mornings are the better window, since the heat builds fast with no real shade structures beyond scattered trees, and the naval area tends to get quieter rather than busier as the day goes on.
