Nan Mot Daeng Rafting

Nan Mot Daeng is a commercial rubber-raft trip down a jungle stream in Lan Khoi subdistrict, Pa Phayom district, about 50 km from Phatthalung town. Two paddlers share each raft over roughly 6-8 km of grade 2-3 rapids, taking about two hours, with staff positioned at the trickier sections to help steer visitors through.

It’s grown into more than a rafting stretch. The operator has built a small resort around the put-in point — treehouse-style accommodation, a restaurant and café, a water slide, and a skywalk platform over the valley — so it works as a half-day stop or an overnight base rather than a quick drive-by activity.

Getting onto the grounds costs nothing, but the raft trip is a separate paid activity: expect to pay around 200 THB per person, which normally covers gear and a guide. Watch out: water levels depend on rainfall and on releases from an upstream dam, so how exciting the rapids are on a given day can vary — call the operator ahead, particularly outside the wet months, rather than turning up and hoping for a good flow.

Grade 2-3 rapids keep this manageable rather than technical — most operators accept children from around age five paired with a guide in the raft. That also means it’s not the trip for anyone chasing serious whitewater; treat it as a family-friendly float with a few bursts of excitement rather than a hardcore rafting run.
