Ya Roid Waterfall
น้ำตกยาโรย
Ya Roid Waterfall is inside Thale Ban National Park in Khuan Don district, on the road toward the park headquarters — the turnoff is about 6 km before the office, with a signed side road roughly 700 metres long leading to the falls. Because it sits inside the park boundary, entry follows the standard national park gate fee rather than being free, which is worth knowing before you plan a trip expecting no-cost access.
The waterfall drops through nine tiers down the hillside, each forming a pool where the water pauses before continuing down. The fourth tier carries the longest single drop, around 20 metres, while the uppermost tier is generally considered the most scenic — the water splits into two strands and falls roughly 10 metres over a bare rock face. The lower tiers are the easiest to reach and the most swimmable; going further up means more scrambling over wet rock.
- Entry: National park gate fee — approx. 200 THB foreign adult / 100 THB child, 40 THB Thai adult / 20 THB child
- Hours: Daily 08:00-17:00
- Tiers: 9, with the tallest single drop around 20 metres
- Address: Khuan Sato-Wang Hin Road, Wang Prachan subdistrict, Khuan Don district, Satun
- Location hub: Satun
Watch out: Rocks around the pools get slick with spray and algae, especially near the higher tiers — reef sandals or trail shoes with grip do better here than flip-flops.
The falls run year-round but swell noticeably during and just after the rainy season, roughly June through December; expect a thinner flow in the dry months. Bring water, insect repellent, and a waterproof bag if you’re carrying a phone or camera down to the pools.
Insider Tip: Combine the visit with Talay Ban National Park itself, since Ya Roid is one feature within it — the park’s other trails and Bueng Thale Ban lake are reachable from the same gate. Toneplew Waterfall, also in Khuan Don district, is a reasonable second stop if you want more than one cascade in a day.
