Gloria Gaspari, a yoga teacher and holistic nutritionist, leads this small-group week on Koh Tao, Thailand’s best-known dive island. The yoga is the core, but the week also includes one freediving session in the sea, an ice bath and sauna, and evening sound healing.
- Duration: 6 days, 5 nights, with check-in from 2pm on day one
- Yoga: morning vinyasa with pranayama, evening yin and restorative
- Extras: one freediving class with video, ice bath and sauna, sound bath
- Meals: a big brunch and dinner, mostly plant-based
- Group: 2 to 10 guests
How the days run
You arrive to a fresh local drink, drop your bags, then meet the group in the shala for a welcome circle. Mornings start with pranayama and meditation before a dynamic vinyasa class, then brunch. The later sessions are deep yin stretches, restorative work and a sound bath at sunset, with one extra yoga workshop chosen during the week. Away from the mat there is the freediving class, with theory, a practice in the sea and a professional video of it, plus an ice bath and sauna session and group hikes.
Food
Meals are plant-based and built around local produce and tropical fruit. Gloria runs a short nutrition talk at brunch each day about one or two of the ingredients on the table. The kitchen covers vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free and nut-free diets.
Rooms
You can choose a shared jungle bungalow for two, a private jungle bungalow, or a private or shared glamping tent. The shared options are the cheaper way in.
Watch out: the money is locked in early here. Beyond the first 72 hours after booking the deposit cannot be recovered, and the full balance is paid and non-refundable from 90 days out, so buy travel insurance that covers cancellation.
Who it’s for
Come with a regular practice. The retreat is aimed at intermediate and advanced students, the vinyasa has challenges built in, and the week makes most sense for someone who wants more than a standard yoga holiday. Gloria has taken five different teacher trainings, so ask for harder variations if you want them.
Insider Tip: check-in is at 2pm, but if you arrive earlier you can wait at the restaurant. That makes an early ferry an easy choice.
Getting there
Fly to Samui (USM) or Bangkok (BKK) and take a ferry to Koh Tao: a few hours from Samui, or a night ferry from the Bangkok side. Book the ticket online at least two days ahead. Airport transfers are not included; at the Koh Tao pier, take a taxi or tuk-tuk and ask for Blue Chitta. Koh Tao is usually sunny from January to August, and the rainy season tends to fall between September and November.
