Reconnect Retreats runs this week at Sai Daeng Resort, on the cliffs at the southern tip of Koh Tao, away from the busy west coast. Each day mixes yoga, breathwork and meditation with a beginner-friendly Muay Thai class. Both the yoga and the Muay Thai are optional, so you can train hard or mostly rest.
- Duration: 7 days, 6 nights
- Classes: daily yoga, pranayama, meditation and Muay Thai
- Room: Private Deluxe Oceanview Villa
- Meals: three a day at the resort restaurant, plus snacks
- Group: up to 10 guests
The programme
The schedule pairs two very different practices. Yoga, pranayama and meditation cover the slower side of the week, and Muay Thai, the Thai art of eight limbs, covers the harder side. No experience is needed for either, and you set the pace. Around the classes there are group excursions, nature hikes with a local guide and transport during the retreat, and one 60-minute treatment is included. Hannah Suraya, a UK-born yoga teacher and NLP coach, teaches yoga and leads the mindset workshops. The week also takes in a guided hike to John Suwan Viewpoint, a private snorkel boat trip and a sound healing session.
The setting
Sai Daeng Resort sits above two small private beaches on the quiet south side of the island. The resort restaurant, Uncle Soon’s, is right at the water’s edge, and all your meals are taken there. Koh Tao is known for diving and snorkelling, so the reef is never far away if you want a free afternoon in the water.
Meals and rooms
The kitchen serves a mix of fresh Thai and Western dishes and can handle vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free diets or specific allergies if you tell it in advance. Every guest stays in a Private Deluxe Oceanview Villa, so there is no shared-room option.
Watch out: there is no open arrival. The retreat runs on a handful of set start dates, so pick yours before you book flights.
Who it’s for
Muay Thai beginners get a gentle first taste here, with none of the pressure of a fight camp, and the loose daily rhythm works for people who like a plan without a strict regime. If you want silence or a serious detox, look elsewhere: the week is social and active.
Insider Tip: share your ferry details with the resort before you travel. The Sai Daeng team meets guests at the pier on Koh Tao and drives them to the resort.
Getting there
The easiest route is a flight to Samui (USM) followed by a ferry or high-speed catamaran to Koh Tao. You can also come via Koh Phangan or from the mainland at Chumphon. A return transfer from Samui airport costs extra. Flights, visas and insurance are not included. Cancel as late as the day before you arrive and the whole deposit comes back; you settle the balance at Sai Daeng by cash, card or bank transfer.
