These tickets cover the two big sights in Samut Prakan, just south-east of Bangkok: the Ancient City open-air museum and the Erawan Museum. You can buy one site or both, and add a Thai buffet or a cooking class at the Ancient City. Transport isn’t included, so they suit travellers who want to go at their own pace.

Key Facts
  • Options: Ancient City, Erawan Museum, or both; buffet and cooking-class add-ons
  • Last entry: 6pm at the Ancient City, 5pm at the Erawan Museum
  • Includes: entry for the option booked, plus a tram ride or bike rental where the option lists it
  • Excludes: transport, tips
  • Tickets: voucher by email or WhatsApp, foreigner rates only

The Two Sites

The Ancient City, or Mueang Boran, is a vast park shaped like a map of Thailand, with more than 100 replicas and rebuilt originals of temples, palaces and city sites. It is far too big to walk in a day, so take the tram or a bike where your option includes one. The Erawan Museum is a 43-metre three-headed elephant with three levels inside, from the underworld chamber to a stained-glass hall in its belly and a shrine room in its head.

Watch out: Activities at the Ancient City, including the cooking class, run from 10am to 4pm, earlier than the 6pm last entry. Book the cooking option for the morning.

Who It Suits

It suits independent travellers and families who would rather take the BTS or a taxi than join a tour. If you want a guide and hotel pickup, our private Erawan Museum and Ancient City tour covers both.

Insider Tip: Rent a bike at the Ancient City if your option doesn’t include the tram. The grounds are too big to cover on foot in one visit.
