This is a day boat trip from Koh Samui to Ang Thong National Marine Park with the 100 Degrees East team, limited to 12 guests. It is aimed at people who prefer to avoid the crowds and want a little more comfort than a busy excursion gives them. The day can be as active as you like, with guided snorkelling and kayaking, or spent resting in the shade on the beach.
What the day looks like
The day starts with a cruise past the northern coast of Koh Samui on the way to Ang Thong National Marine Park. The first snorkelling stop is at Koh Wao, where the guides pick the best spot, give a briefing and then join you in the water. All snorkel equipment is provided, including fins, and life jackets and life rings are on hand. The itinerary describes the stop as suitable for non-swimmers as well as experienced snorkellers, and a guide can tow you along if you need it.
Between stops the boat cruises along the park’s coastlines, where the limestone cliffs have worn into odd formations. Lunch is homemade, cooked by the in-house chef and served at a quiet beach, with time afterwards to rest in the shade or cool off in the water.
The Emerald Lagoon is the best-known sight in the park, a salt water lagoon ringed by sheer limestone cliffs and jungle. A 10-minute walk leads to a viewing platform over the lagoon and the islands. Guides bring refreshments and point out the best spots for photos and bird watching. A speedboat then takes you back to the 100 Degrees East centre on Koh Samui at around 5.30pm, and transport is ready to take you home.
