Doi Inthanon National Park Private Tour – Full Day

4.8 (95 reviews) Top rated

Reviewed Jul 2026

Highlights

  • Private 8-hour Doi Inthanon tour
  • Sirithan and Wachirathan waterfalls
  • Karen village at Sobhad
  • Thailand's highest peak visit
  • National park and pagoda fees included

The Experience

A private guide and vehicle cover Doi Inthanon, Thailand’s highest point, at whatever pace your group sets rather than a shared bus schedule. You’ll see the 80-meter Wachirathan Waterfall, the quieter 50-meter Sirithan cascade fed by the Mae Klan River, and the twin royal pagodas built for the King and Queen at the summit. Rated 4.8 from 72 reviews, it’s a private version of one of Chiang Mai’s most-booked day trips out to Doi Inthanon National Park.

What to Expect

Hotel pickup and drop-off are included; if your hotel sits outside the free pickup zone, the meeting point shifts to the McDonald’s at Thapae Gate in the Old City, where your guide waits holding a TripGuru sign. The day runs 8 hours and covers real ground — waterfalls, the summit pagodas, a walk on the Angka Nature Trail’s raised platform through cloud forest, and a stop in the Karen village of Sobhad before finishing at an upland Hmong market. Park entrance (THB 320) and the King & Queen Pagoda fee (THB 40) are both included; lunch and personal spending are not, so bring cash for the restaurant stop and the market stalls.

Who It’s For

Good for travelers who want a private car and guide for a long day covering waterfalls, a summit, and a hill-tribe village without matching a group’s pace. Less suited to anyone short on time — 8 hours is a full day — or who’d rather do a shorter, shared-group version at a lower price. As with any Thai national park, leave pets at the hotel; they aren’t permitted inside Doi Inthanon.

Insider Tip: Free cancellation runs up to 24 hours out, worth using since this route is marked likely to sell out.

Safety Tip: The waterfall viewpoints and the Angka Nature Trail’s platform get slick with spray and rain, so sturdy footwear matters more than the easy difficulty rating suggests.

Bring small Thai baht notes for lunch and for the handicraft stalls at Sobhad and the Hmong upland market.

Itinerary

1

Our first stop is one of the largest and the most beautiful waterfalls in the country, the Wachirathan Waterfall. Over 80 meters high, the power of this waterfall creates a refreshing mist that feeds the surrounding vegetation – giving you the most invigorating facial of your life!

2

Then we’ll head to the amazing Sirithan Waterfall. This stunning 50-meter cascade, fed by the Mae Klan River from Doi Inthanon’s peak, is perfectly hidden deep in the pine forest. Follow one of the many paths around the impressive and powerful body of water; enjoy the cool spray as you pursue closer views, maybe even a rainbow!

3

Next we’ll stop at the famous twin pagodas: the Napamatanee Don and Napaphon Bhumisiri. Built for the Royal King and Queen, they are located at the highest point in Thailand, enriched with beautiful flower gardens and Alpen Roses. After visiting the royal stupas, we’ll stop by a restaurant to refuel for lunch.

4

After lunch, we’ll burn off all that pad thai with a bit of “mini-hiking” at the Angka Nature Trail. The trail is a 360m platform walkway taking you through the mossy rocks of the cloud forest. We’ll then visit a Karen Tribe locale where we will learn a bit about the tribes people’s culture and way of life, as we explore their village of Sobhad. We will finish the day by mingling with the people of the Hmong Tribe in the upland market, browsing its wealth of fine textiles, exotic foods, and local handicrafts
