Chiang Mai Food Tour with Local Foodies

Two set departures run this Northern Thai food tour: a morning loop starting at 9am from the Three Kings Monument and finishing by 1pm at Warorot Market, or an evening loop starting at 4pm at Warorot Market and wrapping up around 8pm. Both work through several stops across Chiang Mai’s old city, mostly on foot.

The morning route stops at a khao man gai restaurant that’s been family-run since 1957, passes Wat Chiang Man (the oldest temple within the old city walls) and works through a khao soi tasting before a visit to the Wat Gate Community and a dessert stop for sakoo sai moo and kao griap pak maw. It finishes at Warorot Market, itself over a century old, for sai oua sausage, mango sticky rice, and Thai iced tea, crossing the Ping River footbridge on the way in. The evening route adds a stroll through the flower market, a sit-down meal at a Northern Thai restaurant serving gaeng hunglay, larb moo, and a herbal salad, plus a stop at Wat Sadue Muang and Chang Puak Gate night market for stewed pork leg and fresh rotee.

Groups run up to 20 people with a professional guide who doubles as driver on the evening leg. Bottled water and food tastings are included; alcohol is available to buy but isn’t part of the package.

Watch out: Alcoholic drinks aren’t included in the price. Budget extra if you want a beer alongside the khao soi.
