Benny's Home Cooking Chiang Mai

Benny’s Home Cooking is a six-hour cooking class at a family home in the countryside outside Chiang Mai, set in an organic garden. You visit a local market, pick ingredients, then cook five dishes yourself, including a curry paste made from scratch. It suits anyone who would rather learn Thai cooking by doing it than by watching a demonstration.

What the day looks like

The day starts with hotel pickup from downtown Chiang Mai, then a guided tour of a local market with a food tasting. From there you head to the home, which is about 20 minutes from downtown and from Chiang Mai International Airport.

At the house you choose fruit, herbs and vegetables and pick them yourself. You then choose your dishes from five categories: appetisers, soups, pastes and curries, stir-fried dishes and desserts. A professional instructor runs the session, and you cook and eat five dishes in all, curry paste included. At the end you take home a printed recipe book, and the day finishes with hotel drop-off.
